Patchwood competition.


Objective


The objective is to create a fragrance which best demonstrates the unique strengths of Patchwood.

Rules
  1. The perfumer will create a fragrance and submit 2 versions of the fragrance, 1 with Patchwood and 1 without Patchwood.
  2. Fragrance direction and final intended product application is open.
  3. Samples will be clearly named with “Fragrance name” - A and “Fragrance name” – B.
  4. Fragrance A will NOT contain Patchwood.
  5. Fragrance B will contain Patchwood as a replacement for some or all of the solvent contained in Fragrance A.
  6. The inclusion of Patchwood in Fragrance B must only be made by replacing some or all of solvents in Fragrance A. The level of other fragrance ingredients must not be changed.
  7. The amount of Patchwood included in the fragrance is not limited.
  8. The perfumer will supply 10 gms oil sample of both Fragrance A and Fragrance B.
  9. 10 gms fragrance oil samples will be accompanied by paper copies of the fragrance formulations for both Fragrance A and Fragrance B and sent to PFW Aroma Chemicals B.V at the address below.
  10. Delivery of samples and formulations at PFW Aroma Chemicals before 6th February 2010 is the responsibility of the sender.
  11. Samples or formulations not received on or before the 6th February 2010 will not be considered for judging.
  12. Judging will be carried out by an independent panel of fragrance industry experts.
  13. Fragrances from different perfumers will not be judged directly against each other, rather judging will be the comparison of version A of a fragrance to version B of the same fragrance.
  14. Judging will be based upon quality of odour, amount of Patchwood used and the overall perceived olfactive benefit of the inclusion of Patchwood in fragrance B compared to fragrance A.
  15. Employees of PFW Aroma chemicals are excluded from entering the competition.
  16. The creator of the winning fragrance will supply a short biography and head shot photo to PFW Aroma Chemicals.
  17. The creator of the winning perfume agrees to have his/her Picture, biography and copy of the winning formulation published in Perfumer and Flavorist magazine.
  18. The winning formulations will become the property of PFW Aroma Chemicals B.V.
  19. Fragrance oil samples and copies of the 2 relevant formulations must be with PFW Aroma Chemicals B.V before 6th February 2010.
  20. The winner will receive a prize of $2000 and a commemorative plaque.
  21. If the winner is available the prize will be presented at the World Perfumer Congress in Cannes 2010.
  22. All formulations received by PFW Aroma chemicals for this competition become the property of PFW Aroma Chemicals B.V.
  23. Any submissions in breach of the above rules will be not eligible for consideration.
  24. All judges decisions are final and no correspondents will be entered into.
